Display Materials

Arisawa has always made great efforts for research and development of display equipments and facilities. So, our business field has been expanding from the technology being applied in the fields of front projection screen molding to UV-cured molding, thin film coating and three-dimensional imagery.
Giving new thought to the nature of light, we, at Arisawa, are striving to develop innovative products in this field.


3D Products

The Xpol® is an optical 3D filter based on regularly arranged micro-polarizers. By laminating onto a flat-panel display, such an LCD, the user can view flicker-free 3D stereoscopic contents simply by wearing polarizing glasses. So far, shutter glasses method (the left and right eyes' information are alternatively displayed and the synchronized glasses switch the viewable eye from left to right by shuttering) has been the main way for viewing stereoscopic contents. However, from now, the diffusion of polarizing glass method will go into full swing. Since the Xpol technology has advantages over the shutter glasses 3D viewing methods.


Optical retardation elements

Xpol® is oriented and patterned liquid crystal polymer film on glass substrate. The direction of the orientation axis in proper patterned area is differed as designed previously. The orientation axis decides the optical axis. Such optical axis is accurately-oriented and the pattern pitch is designed and manufactured strictly. Xpol is used in optical pickup, and is hoped to be used as an optical low-pass filter of digital single-lens reflex cameras.


Lamination process

An optical product can be created by taking advantages of diverse process technologies. Arisawa has been receiving customer's satisfaction by providing not only our optical products but also contributable suggestions with our invention. Our lamination process technique is one of the works that we are highly received and proud of its high accuracy accumulated in operating experience with various optical materials.

    • We are offering high spec projection screen for front projectors.
      Our projection screens provide an image with the sufficient contrast even in a bright room.
      We have three different type of projection screens which are developed for different type of projector, they are called FCS( Fine Contrast Screen ) , Prism Screen for ultra short throw projector and 3D screen.

    • UV Nanoimprinting
    • We can provide UV nanoimprinting parts using UV cured resin.
      Compared with injection molding or compression molding, our UV molding method can fabricate various spec products, finer, larger, using various thickness of substrate from thin film to thicker plate.   • Optical retardation element
  • Arisawa's optical retardation element is a wave plate comprising photo-alignment layer and polymerizable liquid crystal. The optional wave plate to meet required wave length can be formed by managing film thickness of polymerizable liquid crystal, and also the optical axis can be designed as wanted by optimizing exposure angle to the photo-alignment layer. There are many choices of base material including films such as TAC film, COP film, or alkali glass and non-alkali glass substrates. The followings are the advantages of our optical retardation element compared to the other material such as quartz plate and stretched film.

      ・Complex and finer pitch patterned retarder by photo-alignment technology.
      ・Thin film multifunction element by multi-layer coating of photo-alignment layer and polymerizable liquid crystal.
      ・Cost-effective product with large-sized glass substrate by continuous film manufacturing process.
      ・Relatively high light resistance to short-wave length such as blue-lay by applying special surface treatment.


    Technologically advanced Arisawa's optical retardation element is anticipated in application to the following field.
      ・Optical pickups including BD, DVD, CD
      ・QWP (Quarter Wave Plate), HWP (Half Wave Plate)
      ・PS converter used in LCD projector
      ・Other field where need polarized light management (Electronic industry, Information-processing, Automotive, Construction)
